Dunblane Community Council newsChanges at Burgh ChambersThe Community Council has successfully defended the retention of Dunblane Burgh Chambers against the earlier threat of closure. The defence was based on the Community Council response to consultations in its letter August 2004 (pdf format). There will be some changes, but these changes aim to use the asset more efficiently and retain it as Dunblane’s central point for community democracy, rather than the potentially damaging option of closing it. At a Stirling Council meeting on February 10th 2005 the proposal which would have closed local offices was defeated. The One Stop Shop will be set up in Stirling in any case. Any attempt to close offices will have to be taken by the Council Committee. Be assured the Community Council be keep a close eye on any further attempts to close the Burgh Chambers. The Marriage Room and the Community Council Office on the first floor and the ground floor meeting room will all be retained as they are. The back rooms on the ground floor and the remaining two offices on the first floor are to be occupied by Stirling Council Services being relocated from elsewhere. |
