Braeport CentreSupport the Dunblane Delevopment Trust by donating using the ChairtyChoice website, click here for details. The Braeport Community Centre ( which was the village primary school until the early 1970’s ) is located within 2 minutes walk of the Cathedral and has 54 free parking spaces. With it’s spacious 3 halls, the centre is the regular meeting point for many groups and clubs including the Dunblane Pre-School Play Association, Monument Dance, Brownies/Guides, Boxercise, Taekwondo, yoga, badminton, bridge, etc as well as the Allanwater Angling Association, the local History Club and the Civic Society. Dunblane Development Trust took over the running of the Braeport Centre in May 2007 from Stirling Council on a short term lease till the end of 2009. This was to allow the Trust to register an interest in the property with the Scottish Government which means we have first call if the centre comes up for sale by Stirling Council. We will be working with the users and the community to produce long term plans to extend the use and make improvements to this well used facility. We would be interested also to hear from anyone who wishes to become involved as a volunteer in the running of the Braeport Centre. Since taking over the Centre the DDT has refurbished and redecorated the centre extensively, making it an ideal location for parties, functions and other events. – for instance we look forward to being the venue for Doune & Dunblane Fling events in May. For enquiries call Bill Stewart on 822312. The current, regular users of the Braeport Centre are: Playgroup and Toddlers groups, which are seen as the 'hub' of children’s activities. Playgroup and Toddler sessions are well attended but a few places are still are available. If you are a parent and have any questions please feel free to drop into a playgroup or toddler session and talk to the playgroup leader or toddler representative. There are sessions every morning and a few in the afternoons. Monument Dance School for Ballet of all ages (see noticeboard in Braeport for further information) Badmington on Thursday afternoon and evening and on Friday evenings Doune and Dunblane Bridge Club (weekly) Brownies and Guides (weekly) Tae Kwon Do classes Monday and Thursday Yoga Wednesday mornings and evenings and Monday evenings.
