Dunblane Development Trust - Dunblane in BloomDunblane In Bloom (DiB )was the title given to the Environment Group of the Dunblane Development Trust when it was formed in 2004. Our purpose is to make Dunblane an attractive town to live in and to visit. The underlying aim is to encourage civic pride and community spirit. Some History : In 2002/03 we were a number of individuals doing our own thing independently. Ian Golby and Monica Cessford were conducting litter picks around the town. Sandy MacKay was attempting to clear the Haining embankment and the residents of Ochlochy Park were concerned about the state of the pond. All these activities were brought together when the Dunblane Development Trust was created and the DiB group formed. For its first three years the Group participated successfully in the Scotland In Bloom competition. We were awarded best first new entrant in 2004. In subsequent years we reached the finals but were always beaten by Forres. We decided not to continue participating but we do conduct our own competition among the traders of Dunblane. Become a Volunteer There are some 20 volunteers who meet every Sunday morning and some evenings during the summer months carrying out work such as weeding, litter picking and strimming. We also plant and maintain flowerbeds, planters and half barrel tubs. There is a mid week group which meet on a Tuesday morning. They carry out infrastructure works such as painting railings and seats, building dry stone walls etc. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer would be made most welcome. Please contact Sandy Mackay on 822765 Donations welcome The Group is funded entirely from donations, financial and in kind, given by the public, community groups, commercial business and Stirling Council. We also apply for and receive grant funding from various sources for specific projects. Anyone wishing to make a donation should make cheques payable to ‘Dunblane Development Trust’. On the reverse of the cheque, please write For The Dunblane In Bloom Group and send the cheque to:- The Treasurer Photo Archive Photos for 2006 Photos for 2004
