Dunblane in Bloom 2006          Smithy Loan

The Smithy Loan flower beds as we refer to them were originally rose beds which were systematically killed off by Stirling Council using glyphosate commonly known as “roundup” a systemic weed killer. We took them over and created the beds you now see

Unfortunately the begonia corms were somewhat erratic in their growth which meant we did not have quite enough to fill the bed. We framed them with cineraria not realising just how vigorous this plant grew and you can just make out the begonias.... We are learning

The Bizzie Lizzie is one of the most versatile plants giving a riot of colour lasting until the first frosts as we can see on the slide
