Dunblane Develoment Trust - In Bloom NewsJudging on July 8th We have been notified by the Beautiful Scotland in Bloom organisation that Dunblane will be judged in this competition on Thursday the 8th of July 2004 . This is our first year in this national competition, and it is important that we create a good impression and show how proud we are, of all the hard work done by our work parties, and the help and assistance we have received from other organisations such as The Dunblane Civic Society and Stirling Council. As you know Sandy MacKay has been working hard over the winter and spring to erect our poly tunnel at Mo-Lawn, and has used this facility to bring on many hundreds of bedding plants which will be planted out in the various beds around the city over the next two weeks. Sandy will need even more help to plant out all the bedding and place 21 half barrels around the town, he will also need help watering and caring for these plants during the summer season, please therefore lend him as much support as you can, you can contact Sandy on Tel 822765. The Scotland in Bloom competition is not just about making our city look beautiful, it is also about improving environmental protection, avoiding and reducing waste, recycling, creating better open spaces and walkways, creating partnerships between the community, the council and other groups in the area, which we as a trust have absolutely achieved and I am personally very proud of. To this end we will also need to ensure all the areas being judged are free of litter and that all areas are clean and tidy, I will also ensure that the council will be playing their part, by cutting all grass verges, central reservations and park areas before the competition, and that roads, pavements and car parks are swept and free of weeds. I realise that all the above work will require a massive amount of personal effort from everyone, but please lend your support where you can, and I will advise as often as possible where and when we are needed, by email.
