Dunblane Develoment Trust - In Bloom News

Meeting on June 10th

A meeting was held in the Stirling Arms Hotel on the 10th of June to discuss the Dunblane in Bloom project headed up by Sandy MacKay, tel 822765.

The High Street will have 21 half barrels of bedding plants placed at strategic points around the town on Monday 14th of June.

The High Street roundabout will planted out with bedding plants on Sunday 13th of June between 10.00 and 12.00am .

The flower beds at Perth Road and Smithy Loan will be planted out with bedding plants on Tuesday the 15th and Thursday the 17th starting at 6.30pm .

The Masonic Lodge in the High Street will erect hanging baskets on the railings outside Marshall McCallums at their cost.

The DIB project will have initial judging on Thursday 8th July at 2.00pm by Mr. Keith Scrimengour of Scotland in Bloom.

The route for the DIB judging was discussed but not finalised, as May and Douglas Wright have offered their services to walk the route, and then we will decide the correct procedure.

Monica Cessford has £170.00 of funding for plants which will be used for two areas on the B8033 at the new roundabout subject to Stirling Council approval.

The Bank of Scotland in the high street have agreed to funding of £200 for half barrels which will be placed in their garden area in front of the bank.

A meeting was held on Sunday at 12.00am with Mrs Stirling Aird to discuss the improvement of the entrance to the Kippendavie Trust estate, at the lodge house on the B8033, the DDT will investigate costs and report back to Mrs Stirling Aird, who will then advise the family trust and give a decision on the project for funding of plants.

A grant approval has been received for £268.00 to fund 2 dry stone walling courses and tools from Stirling Council Community fund.

The Stirling Observer have agreed to do an editorial article on the first year of the trust which will include all our projects.

The fencing at the community garden next to the Fayrey Bridge will be replaced with metal railings before July the 8th by Andy MacLaren, and many thanks are due to all the people who donated plants to refurbish the garden.

Finally, please try to help Sandy MacKay with all the planting listed above, as we really wish to make a big impression with Dunblane in Bloom, and show this lovely city in a positive light.
