Dunblane Development Trust - Local Business News
Stirling Observer 12th April 2004 At a recent meeting, the members of the Dunblane Business Initiative decided to wind-up their organisation and get fully behind the Local Economy Group within the Trust. This Group is now developing action plans under four headings: Creating a thriving town centre, Developing enterprise locally, Growing the business parks and Developing tourism. For the town centre, the group is working closely with the Environment Group of the Trust in making the centre more attractive by reducing litter, adding floral displays and generally cleaning and tidying where necessary and they will soon be adding other longer-term improvement activities. The activities for developing enterprise cover all the businesses and potential new-starts across Dunblane, including the town centre businesses and the group is working with Stirling Enterprise and with Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley in identifying where business support activities can best be used for assisting local business growth. The work on business parks is currently largely held up pending the outcome of a recent public inquiry which included, amongst other things, the potential future of the site at the North of Barbush as a new business park. Tourism growth is being addressed by the Tourism group from the Dunblane Forum and in addition to planning the annual events that they have already successfully established; the Tartan Day, Santa Lucia procession, etc., they are developing plans for a Craft Fair and considering ways in which they can market Dunblane more through transport providers such as coach operators and ferry companies. The Local Economy Group would welcome more volunteers to assist in any way they can. Contact Mike on 822281 |
