Dunblane Development Trust - Grass cutting proposals Jan 2006

Stirling Council have decided to stop cutting grass in many areas in Dunblane, see maps below for details. These areas are now an unsightly mess and local residents in the Wallace Road and Newton Park areas have submitted petitions signed by an excess of 130 people to the Council, demanding that the grass be cut before the end of this year.

The Council claims that the reduction is to help with Biodiversity (and budget cuts) but we all know that you have to Manage grass to help with Biodiversity, you simply cannot just leave it uncut.

At a meeting on September 13th 2006 in the Victoria Halls, the Council was put under severe pressure to cut the grass in these areas before the end of September. As a result of the above pressure the Council actually cut the grass in the problem areas at the end of October, A victory for local democracy .The Council have stated that they will be consulting again in the new year on these areas, maybe this time they will listen to the communities view.

If you have any comments then please contact the Trust or the Community Council by using the Contacts page on this website.

Below in pdf format is the letter from Stirling Council and maps of the areas where they wish to alter the grass cutting frequency.
