Dunblane Development Trust - General News
Stirling Observer - Local Community Development Fund We are delighted to have been recently awarded a grant of £5000 under Stirling Council’s Local Community Development Fund. This will cover our core administration costs, including insurances, for the next year and it allows us to concentrate on securing the financial resources for improvement projects around the town. Trust Membership is now over 220 and the number of these members getting involved in community actions is increasing in proportion. The Environment Group is keeping up its efforts with litter-picking and generally tidying paths and open spaces. Substantial improvements have already been made at Ochlochy Pond, the war memorial and surroundings, the riverside paths, the Laighills and parts of the B8033. Further work on the B8033 is currently being given priority. The Planning and Strategy group is involved in the consultation forum for the Public Private Partnership programme to upgrade our High School and is working with the Community Council and the doctors at the Health Centre on reviewing a Primary Health Care plan for Dunblane. Work is also underway on public footpaths and safe routes to schools. The Community Facilities group is working with the various management groups of the facilities we have in Dunblane and work has started on collecting and collating information so that a complete directory of current facilities can be published on the web and in hard copy. In addition to creating and maintaining a current directory, the group will consider any gaps identified in the range of activities provided and offer assistance to the existing management groups if required. The Local Economy group is giving consideration to a wide range of activities it might be able to undertake to assist established businesses in the High Street and elsewhere in the town, to encouraging tourism and to support home-based businesses and start-ups. In addition to the activities covered above, we are developing a project to establish how best the Trust can support and sponsor the use of the internet for tourism information, databases on businesses and community activities, local news, community consultations and general information. Membership application forms and information sheets are available at the Burgh Chambers, the Library and newsagents and on this website link .
