Scottish Churches House

Along the eastern side of the Cathedral kirkyard there is a row of 18th century cottages directly under Holmehill. Together with a red sandstone villa that was once a bishop's residence they form Scottish Churches House.

This is a unique Retreat and Conference Centre owned and operated by nine denominations of the Christian Church in Scotland. It is primarily a place of encounter among Christians of all denominations.

The House is widely used by churches ( as well as a variety of secular groups ) for meetings, conferences and retreats. Its 29 bedrooms with a total of 50 beds and day facilities are also available to individual guests.

Behind the House there is a beautiful 13th century chapel where staff and guests maintain a daily rhythm of worship. When not otherwise in use it is open to anyone for meditation.
